I moved to Hawaii four months ago and my allergies have been the worst in my life since moving here. With so many flowers and fruits blooming year round, there is no relief from the pollen. Beware the rainbow state - bring allergy meds.

It depends what you are sensitive too, what island, and where on the island.

I lived three years on Oahu. If you are sensitive to molds, then I would not recommend it. Molds are my chief problem, and my health deteriorated in Hawaii - with all sorts of mysterious problems. For example, when I arrived I took 5 mile beach walks; by the time I left my legs ached if I walked up and down stairs more than 5 times in a day.

Since moving 2 years ago to Colorado Springs, dry, sunny, long winters, where there is very little mold, my health has improved steadily. I can walk 5 miles again, and think nothing of stairs.

I am somewhat sensitive to pollens - had almost no trouble with pollens in Hawaii, a week or two of stuffy sinuses in Colorado.

And then there is "vog", the sulfurous air that occasionally blows across the islands from the active volcanoes on the Big Island. Kauai is the island located the farthest from the live volcanoes.
