I live in Pittsburgh, PA and have severe nasal allergies. I have nasal pressure but never any drainage. I experience constant headaches and cannot take it anymore. I am very allergic to grass, ragweed mix , Perennial Rye, Meadow Fescue, and dust mites.
When the weather changes (rain) or barometric pressure drops, it causes my sinuses horrendous pain.
I am thinking of relocating somewhere near the ocean (southern FL?) I hear that the ocean is good for keeping the nose lubricated and is good for knocking down the pollen.
Where in Florida would be a good place to move?
Thanks in advance for any help! – Jan, Florida

Florida can make your Pittsburgh allergies look enjoyable. Get tested and then get allergy shots and start using nasal irrigation such as NeilMed….a couple of times a day if required. The relief will be immeasurable. I started both about 2-1/2 years ago, and I literally have zero allergy symptoms any more. And, I live in Pittsburgh. I used to have allergies and sinus infections so badly that I couldn’t tell which one led to the other…it was continuous.
I moved to Florida 11 years ago from Pennsylvania. Before I moved to Florida, I never had asthma or suffered from allergies, other than common house dust. Since I have moved to Florida, I have progessively gotten worse each year… I have been diagnosed with severe allergies to several molds, trees, grasses, dust and danders, been diagnossed with asthma, and have chronic ear and sinus infections.
I have had two nasal polyp surgeries in the past 7 years, several steroid treatments and currently take six allergy and asthma meds to try to control my conditions… needless to say, they really don’t work for me at all. I have tried everything from removing carpet to nasal rinses to allergy shots and NOTHING has worked so far…. I am currently looking for another state to move to.
I beg you, if you are searching for allergy or asthma relief, look someplace else! Florida is NOT for you!
I too am considering Florida and currently live in Chicago. During the summer months, I do great and I could swear the humidity helps. Winter is the WORST time of the year for me here in the Chicago area.
Reading all of these comments is making me think if Florida is the right place for me, but I’ve also been tested and have NO allergies, so they think it’s just a Chronic Sinus issue.
I agree with Jay, that the Nasal irrigation several times a day using a product like NeilMed helps!
