My wife is asthamatic for over 50 years. We lived in Hyderabad for lon, and gradually the symptoms reduced along with ayurvedic medicines [ Maharishi’s Asthomap in particular].
We shifted to Chennai a few weeks ago. Within one week she is down again with a severe attack of asthma…heavily polluted air, continuous rain and very wet weather, mistakingly switching on the Air Conditiouer to drive out mosquitoes to name a few.
Chennai seems to be at least 3-5 times more polluted than Hyderabad–air, water and surface pollution.
We regret having come here and are wondering when she will recover to enable us return.
Now we are looking for information for the best place for asthamatic patients in India. She is 68. We yearn for a place with the climate and population of Hyderabad of early 1960’s. Please suggest a few locations. — R., India

Last week’s questions about allergies in Boise Idaho has yielded no comments. But it made me think. We’ve been publishing climate information here in Allergy Climates and Seasons for almost 2 1/2 years. Yet no one has written about the 8 states listed below. Are we to assume that these states are allergy-free? Please share any allergy experience you have had in these states.
- Connecticut
- Delaware
- Idaho
- Louisiana
- Maine
- Rhode Island
- Vermont
- West Virginia

Hello, I am considering a move because of my and my son’s allergies (dust mites, tree mold, grass pollen, oak pollen, cherry and dogwood pollen, feathers). I am looking for information about Boise, Idaho, but I don’t see that state even listed. Do you have any information? Could Idaho be listed so that info could be solicited? — Wayne, United States

I live in Georgia and my sinuses are driving me crazy. The doctor says move to the coast and live on the ocean. But which one? Does any one out there have an answer as to the best place to live if you have severe sinus infections all the time. I did live on the South Carolina coast once and I don’t believe I was sick at all due to my sinus. If anyone out there has an answer, plz get in touch. — T., Georgia
I moved to Southern FLorida in the past month from Chicago and had never experienced allergies/hayfever. Now, I feel like I’m dying. Is it something in the air? The new trees and flowers? Different environment from the cement-jungle of Chicago? AND what should I do to alleviate if not rid my body completely of the sneezes, sniffles and mucous? Cannot take much more. Help!!! — Tim, Florida
I was born and raised in Germany and I suffered of allergies every summer. I think I am allergic mostly to weeds and grasses. I moved to Hawaii 9 years ago and since then all of my allergies have disappeared. I think Hawaii is perfect for people with allergies, because a lot of the weeds, trees and grasses that you’ll have to deal with on Continental US simply don’t grow there. I am convinced of this, because presently I am in Kansas City/Missouri and I have a terrible time with my allergies. So, I know the allergies haven’t just disappeared. Since I haven’t had to deal with it in Hawaii at all in the past 9 years I can only conclude that moving to Hawaii was indeed a geographic solution to the problem. I hope this helps somebody! — Simon, Hawaii
My son and I suffer from hayfever and my four year old son has asthma. We live in North Dakota and my hayfever just about kills me in the fall. I’m assuming its the mold and ragweed. We are looking at moving to the Black Hills area of South Dakota (Rapid City). Would that be better climate for seasonal allergies and asthma? — Gary, North Dakota
I need dry heat and no humidity or very low humidity. Where can you suggest. I am in Wisconsin now and I also have horrible allergies. To ragweed, grass, trees, molds and dustmites, cats etc. I was thinking of Scottsdale AZ. Do you know of a few climates that might work of me and that I could visit to check them out? I would really appreciate it. — Patricia, Wisconsin
