I live in Nowra on the south coast of New South Wales. I have two sons, five yrs and two years. My eldest son has had allergies since he was a few months old, this year he has had to miss school quite a bit due to allergies, with hive like blisters all over his body and an asthma like cough, he has eczema and always feels sick. His little brother has been in hospital with his allergies possibly asthma.
My question is do you know if Milton, on the south coast is one of the areas that is allergy free. I used to suffer from bad allergies and arthritis and read and was told by two different specialists that I should move to Milton. Please could I have any information on allergy free areas to live in Australia as I am wiling to move for my children’s health sake. Thank you. — Deborah, Australia
My Dream turned into my worst nightmare. Moved from Suburban Melbourne Australia to a 10 ac farm let in the foothills of the Dandenongs on the outskirts of Melbourne. Very high rainfall 40inches, may or may not have a summer so grasses never die back. Not much sun during winter. Seasonal creek (or stream) creates wet swampy area to rear of house.
Of course I am allergic to Mould, grasses and dust mites. I had basic grass allergies as a child, but these has gotten far worse over the last few years and now I am sensitive to a range of other things. Doctors want me to keep using nasal cortisone, but this provides no relief.
The house is a low allergy design house, floorboards no ducted heating etc. Because of the environmental factors my life has become very miserable with constant headaches and sinus problems. Interestingly holidays in Queensland (Australia) brings much relief with its warmth and different flora.
I have been trying to convince my family to move somewhere dry and warm so they I can regain some quality if life. I am only 35. — SKN, Australia
4ys ago moved to Tacoma WA USA from Sydney NSW AUS. Declined in health with no plausible cause. A doctor advised move out of Tacoma - we moved to Seattle. Last year I experienced anaphylsis first hand and was placed on numerous meds. My husband placed me on a ferry from Bellingham to Ketchikan Alaska. By the time I arrived in AK I was breathing very well and experiencing quality of life again. After return to Seattle and almost dying the doctors got me medicated well enough to travel back to Sydney. This was to re-set my body clock.
I returned to Seattle with fewer symptoms. Then this year my husband took a job in Ketchikan AK for 6mths with an option - we are here now in the height of the allergy season!!! Life is good!!! No Life is wonderful - Big Smiles!!!
