Pollen bird at 9000 feet in the Rockies

Plan to retire and may become nomadic to avoid allergies.
Currently live at 9000 feet in the Rockies.
Mid-June into September have become unbearable.
Where to go in summer? The Northwest?
I also need a place with less snow for the winter.

Paraguay woman wants Columbia and Costa Rica allergy info

I am in Asunción, Paraguay now and having terrible allergy problems, I am guessing from the humidity and dust (although it might be other things). I can’t find info on Bogota, Colombia or San Isidro, Costa Rica where I am thinking of going to escape for the next month. My worst allergy is dust, although I am also allergic to mold and some grasses/plants. Many thanks. – submitted by Maria, Paraguay

Asthma in Michigan, Jordan, Middle East

I have just moved from Michigan to the country of Jordan in the Middle East. I had bad allergies to all the Michigan trees, mold, ect.. I thought I would be so great in the desert. Boy was I wrong. I wake up and my ears and nose are running. I have aquired this awful cough. Started having asthma type symptoms late at night, early morning. Wheezing. I had to go get a shot from the doctor. I live in a city where there are few trees. Just dirt. So I have read people in the desert are allergic to certain shrubs but I think it could be the dirt. The red dirt is awful. A mansoon in the desert sent a sand cloud over the city a while back and that is when I started having those attacks. Does it ever go away? My 4 year old too. Why is it only us and no one else? So wierd. – submitted by Marissa, Jordan in the Middle East

Reactive airway disease, need dry warm winter

I have asthma that reacts only to cold and chest colds and very bad mold allergies. I was in the house all winter, sick most of the time, couldn’t even attend family activities, and had a deadly case of cabin fever. I know all cities have their pros and cons, but could their be a drier, warmer location for me in winter? I would like to be able go out every now and then. Another possibility for me is to elongate my spring or fall, so if I could travel to a city during its non-mold period; that would be great. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Right now, I feel like I am active only in July and August. – submitted by Sue, Brooklyn, NY

Best climate for eczema – reader finds Germany good

I think it depends on the person and “type” of eczema. For me, hot weather (sweat) sets it off. It’s already a fire/inflammation of the skin, so for me the most mild of climates seem to be best.

Somewhere where the winters aren’t too long or cold and the summers don’t get terribly hot. I’m in Germany now and my skin has never been better.

Yes lots of plants (so allergies can be an issue) but as long as I take my meds and I don’t go out and roll in it, I’m good!

Buy in the forest in Idaho

I live in Coeur D’Alene, ID and my allergies have gone crazy. I’m sick 6-7 months of the year. I lived 25 miles north of here for 6 yrs and only had one flare up. The grass and trees they have added with the new houses make it impossible for me to live here. If you buy in the forest you’ll be fine. – submitted by Lorene, Idaho
